LOVE! LOVE! LOVE!, March 10, 2012 By Reviewer (Georgia) - See all my reviews Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Smartsilk Duvet Comforter, Queen Size (Kitchen) These SMARTSILK comforters wash and dry well ( a little wrinkled looking, but who cares?). They really do adapt better than any other comforter on the market and I have tried them all, including very, very expensive fine down comforters in "Summer Level" which proved just too warm where I live.
Also, worth noting is that silk repels dust mites and is really good for those with allergies and has much sought after seal of approval from the ALLERGY AND ASTHMA FOUNDATION. The ability to wash these comforters whenever you want to just adds to the feeling that your bedding is clean and fresh. I bought two of these from AMAZON so that one could be being washed and dried and while one is put back on the bed. Note: you must dry on very low temperature and check on it a couple of times to rotate it so that it will dry evenly. That's no big deal. After washing a couple of times, these comforters actually become better because the cotton gets softer and softer.

Feels like you are sleeping inside of a cloud, December 21, 2011 This review is from: Smartsilk Duvet Comforter, King Size (Kitchen) I bought this locally last year, to replace a down comforter we'd been using for the past six years, which had developed a lot of 'bold' spots, due to some of the down from the top panels shifting downward and creating clumpy pockets along the edges.
Having worn garments made from silk, I was aware of its thermal quality, and yet I had my doubts that this silk comforter could perform as nicely as a good quality down comforter, but it turned out to be even better.
It doesn't have the puffy look of the down (which I like a lot and it took me a while to get used to the flat look), but it is so very light that it really feels like you are sleeping inside of a cloud. Lovely, really.
The low conductivity of silk keeps warm air close to the skin, pretty much like down does, but without the allergens. Incidentally, silk comforters are a very good choice for people with allergies.

I like it because it is comfortable 3 seasons, despite my poor personal temp. regulation. The fibers seem evenly distributed even after washing. It is very nice not to have the dust mites and allergens like down but also not the sweaty discomfort of synthetic fibers.
